khu tap the online

Translation: An online communal apartment

"Do you all think that because of this [COVID-19] pandemic, we become more tu te (kind/ supportive/ caring) to ourselves and others :) This group is like a khu tap the online (an online communal apartment). We are tolerant and loving towards one another." - translation of an interlocutor's text from a random conversation via Messenger.

of togetherness

*descriptions of peoples, cultures, worlds

Within the unprecedented schoolyear of 20/21, I cannot help but think about the conditions that brought the Vietnamese community together. We are strangers at the heart of London. Vietnamese is our nationality written in the passports. COVID-19 circumscribes analog school and travel experiences. A (digital) neighborhood project is undoubtedly one about togetherness. But what does 'being together' mean for this group of students? The ethnographies are categorized into three separate yet interconnected blog posts, namely care, food, and idle talk, complementing one another to cultivate a sense of togetherness.
